文中说是“每一艘船”、“独自”，那么就是说这是把护卫舰、驱逐舰、巡洋舰、战列母舰、战列舰什么的都算上了。这种描述有以下几种解释。
第一种是把整个描述当做较高的上限，因为对于巡洋舰和护卫舰来说，这种级别的威力描述实在是贴不上平时世界观内常见的表现和设定。
第二种是假设这些舰船要靠着特殊武器（比如大当量的旋风鱼雷、漩涡鱼雷、新星炮等）来完成这一点。这样单舰表现算是正常了（毕竟护卫舰都能投放灭绝令级别的武器），但这样特殊武器的普及度又会超出寻常标准，所以依然算是半个上限。
第三种是假设它们所花的时间不同，其中护卫舰级别的舰船花的时间要多很多。这样的话倒是不用当上限了，但是即使假设护卫舰花了足足几年（这个时长几乎不可能）用来完成这种轰炸（并假设它的弹药够用那么久的时间），这个火力表现也相当不错了。

帝国海军中那些舰船能够打出足以粉碎行星的侧舷齐射，并且这里是泛指，所以意味着交战双方的每艘船，包括战列舰、巡洋舰和护卫舰的侧舷齐射都是如此。这个描述应该可以作为极端上限来看，一般不予取用。

为了方便让读者有个概念，这相当于爆炸每秒延伸出接近两个半地球直径的距离，而爆炸波及的直径则是每秒接近五个地球直径的距离。至于爆炸本身的能量，如果按照我们的太阳来带入（巧的是，太阳刚好就是一颗大小处于平均水准的恒星），那么就是1.2FOE（衡量超新星爆发力量的单位，相当于10^44焦耳），也挺符合后面清洗同行星系里面星球表面的表现。
此外，这种爆炸并不是真正的超新星爆发，所以不会出现表面积过大的问题，一次性将一个眨眼距离之外（按照冲击波扩散速度也就几千公里）的战列巡洋舰蒸发掉也完全不奇怪了（后者作为一个五六公里长的物体，在那个距离下要承受万倍于地球重力结合能的能量）。而更远的舰船就没有被蒸发，只不过虚空盾被轻松破开，整个船被轻松撕碎或废掉，也都属于正常范围内，并且也证明帝国的舰船结实到吓人的地步。
同时，后面还会有一段关于战列母舰爆炸的原文，那个爆炸也是将整个舰船蒸发外加摧毁周围数十艘相对更小的船（都是战舰），表现上看还算符合这里的这个表现。后面会各种提到帝国战舰拥有恒星级别功率的事情，加上运行年限之后，一次性引爆时有这种级别的能量输出也挺契合。最终，就如同前面所说，每一艘同原理的舰船（也可以说是帝国的绝大多数舰船）理论上都可以进行这种鱼死网破的战术。

一艘巡洋舰的五个等离子反应堆加起来之后有着恒星级别的输出功率。按照我们的太阳（也是一颗平均体型的恒星）来算，就是每秒释放出接近10亿亿吨TNT当量的能量。而且，这是一艘三公里级别的巡洋舰，比后面会提到的标准大小的下限（四公里）还要小，尺寸规格上也就大号驱逐舰的水准，所以将这条内容放在这里（而不是后面专门留给巡洋舰的那一项）。

这种描述对比巡洋舰的定位，刚好能够对得上后面会提到的一段“战列母舰多个恒星级功率的反应堆”的原文描述。同时，这个数据定位上也会对得上后面算的正常大小巡洋舰的功率。毕竟，后面那俩描述里的反应堆的能量是专门供应给武器的，而这个描述的反应堆是用于支持整个引擎的，差距没有想象的大也是正常的。

依然是上面那艘三公里的小船。当它从亚空间回到实体宇宙时，发出的光芒宛如行星系里的第二颗恒星，而且是明显比真正的那颗恒星还要明亮，也就意味着（该短暂时段内）更大的功率输出（大概率能够达到每秒数十亿亿吨TNT当量的级别）。沐浴在这种能量下，它的护盾也没有被过载，只不过它显然没有吸收掉全部的能量，并且也很接近过载了。

一艘打击巡洋舰的护盾能够被数百颗鱼雷弹头同时命中所带来的爆炸给过载（但里面的船暂时没被波及）。这些弹头中每一枚都有着质量足足达到500万吨的核装药（值得注意的是，这里的吨数是指装药量而非爆炸威力）。而即使按照现在现实人类用的铀-235来算威力，那也相当于是每个弹头15万亿吨TNT当量，而数百枚弹头加起来则是数千万亿吨TNT当量。
单看这个数字的确是小了点，但考虑到人类帝国的科技水准，所用的装药必然比现实人类装药强出很多，所以对比一下也能差不多。随后又有更多数量不明的鱼雷弹头来袭，重创了这艘打击巡洋舰，但依然没有将其摧毁。综合一下，就可以大致地推测一下打击巡洋舰（作为一种比月级还小一些的舰种）在护盾和护甲方面的性能了。

这里面提到了，这艘超重型巡洋舰（这里说是battleship，正常意思应当为战列舰，但是根据上下文可知这里battleship一词仅用于形容这艘舰艇的用处）上面搭载的能量炮火（指的应该就是光矛）能蒸发目标星球上的那片片海洋。

5.45*10^26焦耳 或 13.02亿亿吨TNT当量
这里还没有考虑爆炸时能量的扩散和损耗，如果算上的话那么可以得到更大的数值。考虑到光矛的威力本就更加集中，不易扩散，但未必只用一次攻击就能做到描述的效果，最终结果可以给到近十亿亿吨TNT当量。到后面会发现，这个数值范围符合其他的计算以及估算结果。
