一艘战列舰，三艘战列巡洋舰以及一些更小的船的光矛直接烧穿了一颗小型行星的地壳和地幔，并且捅进了地心。这颗小型行星本就不稳定，它的核心释放着能量使得它的表面都因此而沸腾和挪动。这些光矛打进去的高能激光又给核心加了一份能量，使其变成了一颗炸弹，导致本就已经被之前的一轮弹幕轰击局部分解的小型行星爆炸了。地核闪耀着向外膨胀，点亮了太空的黑暗，直接粉碎了地壳和地幔，将碎片向外抛飞出去，与燃烧着的熔化金属所组成的巨量蒸汽流以及喷雾混合在一起，整个就是一大片倾泻而出的高速物质与完全毁灭。

乍看上去，这个表现并不能说出众，毕竟借助的外力太多了。但实际上又如何呢？下面就来分析一下。首先，这个小型行星有着自己的地质运动、岩浆什么的，而且不稳定的时候能量大到让表面也为之沸腾，这就意味着它的直径保守来讲也会有上千公里（其实大多数有这种现象的天体都是数千公里级别，但是这里保守一点，毕竟原文说这是一颗小行星），比不少天文卫星还要大，尽管还是比地球小很多，并且也只有月球的数分之一。
虽然原文说光矛是把整个地核变成了一整个巨大的炸弹，但是既然光矛作为纯高温破坏的武器，中间不会涉及到化学反应，只会是单纯地物理升温，所以将地核变炸弹的能量也会是光矛自己打进去的；当然，地核本身也有不小的能量，但是这个能量既然没直接让星球自爆、分解或者出现整体规模上明显的不稳定现象，那就意味着它至少比天体本身的重力结合能小一个数量级。得出的结论是，这次爆炸中，光矛的能量占大头。
文中也提到，之前这个小型行星就已经被弹幕轰击（意味着是宏炮）炸得局部分离了，而弹幕轰击原文中是单数，所以这表明这个效果只用了舰队的不到一轮齐射（具体差了多少是未知）。从外部炸的难度要大于内部，但终究只是局部分离，所以应该能和重力结合能达到同一个数量级，但还是做不到相等，估计要差上几倍。所以，这点能量也不会让后面的光矛省下多少威力。
至于这个爆炸本身，考虑到这个小型行星并不是被堪堪炸到分离，而直接把大堆的物质都给炸飞出去，而且是全方位地飞散开的，这个爆炸所需的能量将远远大于重力结合能。那么，就靠着动能来推断，上千公里直径的天体直径约是月球的数分之一，密度出入不算太大的话质量基本是数十分之一的级别，就是上百亿亿吨级别的质量。
为了让整个炸碎的过程变得肉眼可见甚至显得很快，碎片飞出的平均秒速（其中自然包括地核里的那些）至少要超过十公里（也就是自身百分之一的直径），否则过程会显得过于缓慢。最终将速度和质量带入动能公式，估测一下就能够得到这次光矛轰炸的大体威力，大约为近万亿亿吨的TNT当量。不过，还有问题没解决，那就是这次攻击到底用了多久。
虽然没有直接描述，但是原文说到这一切的发生快得惊人（all happenedtremendously fast），那么这种形容最多也就是一两分钟了，毕竟，灭绝令一般就是这么长的时间。对比前面列举过原文的光矛齐射速度，这意味着五六次光矛齐射，每轮上千亿亿吨TNT当量。其中算作那艘战列舰占了大头，其他的再加一加，基本也就能契合前面的出的一堆威力结果以及武器供能功率了。

山阵是一艘大小堪比一颗小型天文卫星的巨大星舰。在人类帝国的鼎盛时期，原体罗格·多恩亲自指导并且设计建造了这个巨大的构造物。除开黑暗科技时代的遗物不谈，它一般被认为是整个帝国中最巨大的星舰。
